If
you are a true vaping enthusiast, you must have heard the terms
propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG). Both of them are
colorless and odorless liquids that get added with flavor to make
vape juice. You may also use water
soluble flavors.
These two chemicals produce vapors upon heating, which can get
inhaled while vaping.
PG
and VG have different properties, and changing its proportion in
e-liquid affects your vaping experience. You can vary the PG/VG ratio
for various purposes as below.
Smoothness:
High VG vape juices provide a smoother hit and give a thicker smoke.
The flavor gets slightly muted due to VG, but you can counter that by
producing more vapor per puff.
The
throat hit:
If you like to get a sharp throat hit, you should go with e-liquids
high on PG. It’s an ideal choice for those who enjoy a powerful
kick at the back of the throat. PG is also better at carrying the
flavor.
Cloud
chasing:
It refers to exhaling thicker and fuller clouds of vapor. There are
various competitive events based on cloud chasing. And here, VG is a
clear winner.
Stealth
vaping:
If you want to enjoy vaping in public, you need a base that produces
fewer vapors. PG is a perfect choice for low-key and stealth vaping.
But, it’s best not to vape at waiting rooms, public transport,
etc.
In
conclusion
If
you like a strong throat hit, then you should have higher PG in your
vape juice. But for a smoother hit, VG should be higher. By
using water soluble flavors, you can get more immersive and
flavor-rich vapors.
